Adult Eczema

Most people suffer from dry or sensitive skin at some time, even if they do not actually suffer from eczema or dermatitis. Our skin is constantly under attack - by exposure to extreme weather conditions, by the drying effects of central heating or air conditioning, by repeated immersion in water, and so on. It's not surprising that sometimes its natural defences are not fully able to protect it from dehydration and the problems associated with skin dryness.

Unfortunately, our skin also naturally tends to become drier as we get older.

Symptoms of skin dryness will depend on the severity of the condition, and may include redness, roughness and scaling, soreness, irritation and itching, and possibly even cracking.

Dry skin may be a general condition all over the body, or it may occur in isolated areas only, depending on the cause.

Although this sort of general irritating dry skin condition is unlikely to be as severe as eczema, your skin may still need special care.
